I have vivid memories of being lost after my parents told me they were getting a divorce. I was 10 and I didn't understand why. I was sad and completely unaware of the effect it was having on me. One day I picked up the first Harry Potter while at the library and decide to give it a go. I completely lost myself in the books. I read one after another until there weren't anymore for me to read. I found a new world to get lost in while mine was crumbling around me. The story was vivid and you could imagine everything that was happening. I took that series with me while I moved halfway across the country and back. I took it with me while I started new schools and braved making new friends. After telling my grandfather about my love for the series he went on to tell me that he loved them just as much. He took me and my sister to see every single movie. It was our thing. As I get older and I re-watch or re-read the series, I think of him. I see Harry Potter as my very own Deluminator, for it shows me the light in even the darkest of times. Not only were these books that for me, but so was my grandfather.
